Bookmarks are as old as the web

However the practice of bookmarking evolved. some tools disappeared, new usages appeared like tweeting findings. Bookmarks can also be shared and become a social activity on its own. Bookmarks are often a result of explorations, things we want to keep for further reading, deepen the topic. In this case bookmarking is a very early stage PKM process. They could also be stuff we use on a regular basis and we want to save the navigation again and again. Bookmarks tend to grow in large volumes. How do you deal with them after you passed 1000? Some classification strategy should be used. Do you share bookmarks? In which case adding a comment, predictable tags, labels or keywords is a necessary addition to help you peers to decide what is in it for them, without visiting the page. How do you write them? Should the choice of tags and classification itself be a social activity. Should they be managed collaboratively? Do you have something to add, to contribute to this topic? You could, for example, participate directly to this topic by sharing links on our public Diigo group: https://groups.diigo.com/group/pkmchat PKMChat being about Personal Knowledge Management encompass Knowledge lifecycle in general. Our first chat was about learning, acquiring Knowledge. Our second is about sharing it. Weeks after weeks we will switch from one end of the lifecycle to another while exploring all the channels that could be used: social, formal, writing, videos. Feel free to suggest topics by tweeting to @pkmchat.
