Chatbots and us

Chatbot: a program simulating a conversation with humans by auditory or text means. From chat and bots (last syllab of “robots” which means worker in Czech).

With the explosion of messaging apps and IoT devices like Amazon Alexa it’s easy to replace humans interactions with chatbots to offer more services without the need of a screen.

Today one can build a chatbot on Facebook messenger without any programming knowledge. How good it is is another topic.

Our chat will revolve around: Chatbots, how they impact our learning, sharing experience, how we can design one, which biases they have, how to bypass them?

We will not limit us to applications to PKM (learning, sharing, applying knowledge directly) because as of today we don’t have much experience. Another chat only on chatbots in Learning will follow later

Two must-read resources for this chat

PKMChat being about Personal Knowledge Management encompass Knowledge lifecycle in general. Our first chat was about learning, acquiring Knowledge. Our second is about sharing it. Weeks after weeks we will switch from one end of the lifecycle to another while exploring all the channels that could be used: social, formal, writing, videos. Feel free to suggest topics by tweeting to @pkmchat.
